NUS Sports Camp 2009 Part 2
YO YO SPORTS CAMP!!
Sorry for the delay in releasing the news. We have confirmed the date of the part 2! It will be on 27th July and it will be a whole day affair with beach games in the day and a bash at night! We will also be giving out your camp singlet and goodie bags during the day. Please make sure you have that whole day free cuz it is gonna be a BLAST just like your other 3.5 days!!
The reporting time is 8:30am at Palawan Beach (just beside the Beach Station), you won't miss the tentages and the loud music at the beach. Your House ICs and OGLs will co-ordinate with you guys to meet up before coming together. I know some OGs have actually booked chalets in Sentosa for stay over, that's probably a good option to avoid being late.
As you guys may know, Sports Camp lost around $1500 due to last minute cancellations of our beach and club bookings. In order to make this event FREE for everybody, we are still raising funds through Manhattan Card ( http://www.wowmanhattan.com.sg/) signups. For those who are above 21(must be after your 21st Bday) and would like to do your part for sports camp, please bring along a photocopy of your NRIC front and back and a photocopy of your Letter of Acceptance to NUS (if you haven't already gave to it us during registration), we can do sign-ups on the spot. If you are below 21, please ask your OGL for an application form at the next OG meeting, you need your parent's signature as well as a photocopy of his/her NRIC in addition to those documents mentioned above.
Things to bring for Beach day:
- A set of change of clothes (you probably won't want to change into your glam wear at the beach)
- Glam wear (for bash, remember your shoes and belts. The theme for the bash is SEXY, we will be looking out for the sexiest male and female camper!)
- Sunblock
- Water bottle
- Wash up stuff (towel, body wash etc.)
- SP gift (if you have not already given it out)
- photocopy of your NRIC and letter of acceptance (for manhattan card signups)
Please please have a good nights' sleep the night before and please turn up on time, you won't want to miss any part of this event!
On a side note, we do know that this will clash with Hall orientation, a FASS talk and Matriculation Day for people in Science, Medicine and Law. But this is just a one day affair that you simply cannot miss! Hall orientation spans around 2 weeks, just one day won't hurt. There will be FASS seniors around who can give you all the information you need when you join the FASS O-week. Lastly, freshies going to Science, Medicine and Law, you guys CAN STILL MATRICULATE even if you miss that allocated date! Just pop down to MPSH1 on any other days during Matriculation Week AFTER the 27th!
See you all at the beach!
Cheers!

A Tribute to the Best Camp that never ended...
The following 2 videos goes out to all the O-commers, house ICs, OGLs, councillors and freshies who rocked Sports Camp 2009 for 4 memorable days of our tertiary lives.
But don't ever think it's all over yet. Don't even blink for a second. SC09 Part II is coming up! And the date will be announced real soon. Stay tuned!!!
This turned out to be more emo than we expected.
Thanks everyone for the photos...and Javier for the awesome 5-sec clip at the beginning.

Explanations and Updates
Dearest Freshies and Councillors of NUS Sports Camp 2009,
Firstly, on behalf of the organizing committee for NUS Sports Camp 2009, I would like to apologize for the camp's abrupt end due to H1N1 concerns. I was notified on the 4th day of camp (Thursday 2 July 2009) that one of our camp participants was tested positive for H1N1. Immediately, we alerted NUS authorities and had an emergency meeting and have decided to recall everybody back to NUS for temperature taking. For those people who were at Sembawang yacht club, their recall was delayed due to the heavy downpour. As such, they were made to wait for a very long period of time at the yacht club in the cold. If any of you were part of these groups, please accept my sincerest apologies about the delay.
To date, there has been 6 confirmed cases of H1N1 from the people in our camp and new cases are coming in everyday. I hope that everybody can try to avoid going out for the next 6 days and seek medical attention if your temperature hits 37.6 degree Celsius, and then inform your OGLs/House ICs. For seniors, please inform Runi at 9197 8735 (for Ang Kong Kia and Mafias) and Kynneth at 9793 7163 (for Goo Wak Jai and B-Bottoms) about any new developments and cases, For any very important enquiries, please contact Hua Cheng at 97502308 or Boon Hui at 98526384.
For many people, myself included, the best camp in NUS should not end in this manner! That's why we will be having a continuation of the camp, probably 2,3 weeks later during or after the matriculation week. The details will be put up on the blog and our facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=44270786540&ref=ts ) .It will be a one day affair which includes very fun beach games and a bash at night (as well as the award presentation). We will also be giving out your goodie bags and camp singlets during that day. So do keep a look out for it.

Hua Cheng
